Artist Statement
"Works of visual art are expressions of human life. They can capture the intentions and conscience of the artist, their creator. In art, the human spirit can be revealed. The social and the natural sciences can analyze the mechanics of human existence. Art searches for its meaning. Like pantomime, fine art can express feelings or statements without words and, by doing so, capture the inexpressible life of the soul. Acknowledging this, my art has evolved through observation and interaction. My visits in Southeast Asia, particularly Singapore, and areas in the United States have influenced my choice of subject matter. My current artworks deal with personal narratives about forgotten individuals in our society, our deteriorating environment, and the recognition of mundane objects as art." Michelle Barone (Sargent) |
